Change Your Mind

"Hey, you said you weren’t going to eat any more sweets today."

"Well, I changed my mind."

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: Changing our minds will eventually lead to a change in our behavior. Before sin becomes an act, it is a thought. When we are tempted, we can either call out to God for help, or we can indulge the sinful thought. Eventually, entertaining sin in our minds will lead to sinful actions. Once we have sinned, our mind can be equally powerful. Change begins in our minds here as well in the form of conviction. Conviction is God’s call to change and turn direction.

Since our minds can lead us toward sin or repentance, we need to listen to the counsel of Romans 12. It says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (v. 2). We renew our mind by being filled with the Word of God.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
