Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: At the center of the Christmas story there is a miracle. Jesus was born of a virgin. A lot of people will go through the motions of celebrating another holiday season while doubting the central miracle behind the holiday.
What will you do with this miracle? If the virgin birth is just a fanciful story, then Christmas isn’t all that significant. But Scripture tells us that when an angel announced the news of Jesus’ birth to Mary, he said, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).
The only one powerful enough to be born of a virgin is God Himself. The Savior we celebrate isn’t just a baby; He’s divine. He’s the only One powerful enough to save us from our sin by His own blood. So thank Him today for His miraculous gift of Christ.
