Deep Love

Topics: Holidays

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you have any idea how much God loves you? Listen to one of the first songs of Christmas.

Zechariah: “. . . to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of God.”

Nancy: When Zechariah spoke of God's “tender mercy,” that word in Greek is splanchnon. It’s where we get our English word spleen. It’s a deeply felt mercy, one that comes from way down inside.

But splanchnon doesn’t stop with mere feelings. It does something. It’s what Jesus lived out on the earth, giving healing to those He touched. As people who’ve been deeply loved by God, we’re called to demonstrate those same tender mercies to others.

God extended His mercy so we could be set free from the punishment we deserved and receive the gift of salvation. That’s deep, deep love.
