Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Imagine that you’re driving down a beautiful road. The sun is shining and birds are singing. Then all of a sudden you realize that you’ve driven into a desert! You know, a lot of times our spiritual lives are that way. The dry, lonely times come when we least expect them.
Some of my lowest moments have come right after seasons of great fruitfulness in ministry. I’ve come to realize that the next stop after blessing and victory is often the desert.
The children of Israel experienced this. Exodus 16 tells us about a great victory against the Amalekites. Then they came to the desert of Sinai.
But God was with His people in the desert, revealing things about Himself they never would have understood otherwise. He does the same for us. God is with us in times of blessing, but He’s also with us in a special way when we go through difficult desert experiences.
