We Are Family

June 20, 2022 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household. —Ephesians 2:19

In Psalm 27:4, David said his one desire was to “dwell in the house of the Lord.” This is a family relationship David has with God. Today, through faith in Jesus Christ, we, too, are a part of God’s family.

God also welcomes others to His home. If we’re going to be in God’s house, we need to be willing to welcome the poor, the sick, the needy, and the sinful. God doesn’t live in isolation. He lives in covenant community with all His family. That means we’re not going to be lone rangers. We will want to be with all those who are part of His family. We’ll choose and value a lifestyle of relatedness to God’s people, and we won’t be annoyed or resentful when people who need Jesus “intrude” into our lives.

God is relational, and if we want to live in His house all the days of our lives then we need to be relational people with Him and others.

Make it Personal

Ask God to help you look beyond your plan for today and be willing to welcome needy people into your life.
