Daily Reflections: A Daily Digital Devotional

That and This

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. —Isaiah 40:28

As you read Scripture, you see more and more of what God is like. You see how He has acted, what He has done. You see His power, His majesty, and His greatness. And as you consider each of the historical circumstances and events that the Bible records for us, you begin to understand that if God did that (what He has done), He can do this (what you need Him to do).

If God did that, He can do this.

Habakkuk reflected on the awesome deeds of God from the past (Hab. 3:6). He brought to mind what God had done; as he did, those reminders became assurances. It gave him faith for the present challenges and the coming sufferings.

Even to the beginning of beginnings God has been in control. Can this truth do for us what it did for the prophet? Yes. God has not aged, changed, or weakened. He is the One who “established the earth,” and though “they will perish,” He “will endure”; His “years will never end” (Psalm 102:25–27).
