Daily Reflections: A Daily Digital Devotional

In Our Midst

Be angry and do not sin; reflect in your heart while on your bed and be silent . . . Offer sacrifices in righteousness and trust in the Lord. —Psalm 4:4–5

The Word cautions us against letting righteous anger escalate into sin. Instead, the psalmist exhorts us to ponder these things, trust the Lord, and be quiet. God is God. We are not.

This is the basis for our relationship with Him. Beyond that, He loves and cherishes you—and is doing something during every horrendous situation.

In His inscrutable wisdom and love, He’s able to use even the most agonizing circumstances that touch your life to refine and purify you, to make you fruitful, and to magnify His grace and glory through your life. I know it’s sometimes hard to believe. I know you may not see how you can continue with this pain another week, day, or hour.

But unleashed anger toward God comes, I believe, from having a faulty view of Him— thinking that He couldn’t care less about what you’re going through. The truth is He is going through it with you and for you.
