A Preview of Heaven

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?” —John 14:2

When we cultivate homes where others can grow and be nurtured, where they feel loved and cared for, we put the heart and character of God on display.

This connection may not be immediately obvious. But what God can do in the hearts of our family, working through the orderly, graceful, creative labors of our homemaking, is far more significant than what appears on the surface.

The welcoming atmosphere we provide, the errands we run, the care we provide, and the efforts we take—each of these daily actions reveals in miniature an aspect of God’s nature. The often tedious and mundane tasks of home- making become acts of worship, our ordinary movements works of art.

This is the goal of all our working at home— the previews of heaven we’re able to provide to our family, neighbors, guests. With every act of planning and nurturing, we demonstrate realities that are supreme and ultimate. We create a taste for things above.
