OneCry for Spiritual Awakening

Today a movement is beginning in the hearts of God’s people, a wave of prayer that has the potential to transform families and churches–even whole cities! As a reader of the True Woman blog, I know that you recognize the desperate spiritual needs around us—for revival, for spiritual awakening.

As a pastor, I’m painfully aware of the challenges we face. Christians aren’t living the life Jesus died to provide. Most aren’t being led by the Holy Spirit. Some are compromised; others have left their “first love” relationship with the Lord. The Church is barely holding its ground against the onslaught of the world—instead of the other way around!

In times of spiritual despair, the people of God have only one viable option for recovery: to cry out! Such was the case in Israel when the Ark of the Covenant was stolen and the Lord’s army was defeated; when the priests were corrupt and the land was full of idols.  All hope was gone—in fact, one heartbroken woman named her infant son “Ichabod,” which meant, “No glory.” “The glory has gone from Israel,” she wept (1 Sam. 4:21).

But into that thick darkness and national sadness, the bold prophet Samuel spoke with clarity: “If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods . . . from among you and direct your heart to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you . . .” (1 Sam. 7:3).

Or the prophet Joel, when the nation faced utter ruin, offered a path forward: “Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord(Joel 1:14).

OneCry is a movement that unites believers in urgent prayer for spiritual recovery and awakening. We’re not asking the world to change, we’re asking God to change us! We know that our churches are in a state of spiritual emergency, and our only hope is Christ, mercifully reviving us!

Imagine if the churches in your community got serious about their need for revival—not “Let’s schedule a meeting next year,” but, “Let’s get on our faces before God and cry out in desperation for His power!” And more, what if God actually answered those prayers?

This is the heart of OneCry, and if you share our passion for spiritual awakening, I invite you to join us. will equip you to pray fervently for revival and connect you with others who share the vision.

Let it never be said of us, or our churches, or our generation—“Ichabod!”—rather, let us cry out now that the beauty of Christ’s gospel would shine forth in our lives, and that the glory of His kingdom would be set on display, for all the world to see.

Oh God, send revival, and begin your work in me!
