Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: How are you using your words today? Did you know that the Bible has a lot to say about how we use our words? Here are some examples.
Man: If you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. (Matt. 5:23-24)
Nancy: Are you quick to humble yourself and ask forgiveness when you’ve done something wrong?
Man: First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. (Matt. 5:24)
Nancy: Do you build other people up through words of praise, appreciation, and admiration?
Man: Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion. (Eph. 4:29)
Nancy: Are you quick to say “thank you” for everything God’s given you?
Man: Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts . . . and be thankful. (Col. 3:15)
Nancy: Humble, encouraging, and thankful—those are the kinds of words I want to speak today. I hope that describes your words as well.
