Nancy Leigh DeMoss: What do you really believe about clothing and modesty? Here’s a quick true or false quiz to help you get started thinking about the issue.
“According to the Bible, the purpose of clothing is to cover the body.”
Nancy: True. God designed clothing to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness which became shameful because of sin.
“There are some settings where immodesty is okay.”
Nancy: That’s false. The setting doesn’t determine modesty. In fact, let me challenge your thinking on something. When it comes to swimwear and formal wear, why do so many Christian women compare themselves to the world’s standards? Shouldn’t we be asking, “Is this truly modest?”
“Most girls and women don’t understand the benefits of modesty.”
Nancy: That’s true. Remember what the Bible says, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.”
