Input

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: When the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy about how to "do church," he said it was important for women to dress in a way that shows “modesty and self-control.” But sometimes we need help learning what that looks like.

I remember the day that an older friend took me aside and suggested that the dress I was wearing wasn’t real modest. Of course, I was really embarrassed at the moment. But today I’m so grateful that friend was concerned enough to speak up. That became a marker in my life, and it helped me commit to a life of modesty.

Are you open to the input of other people? Your dad or a wise, godly man could have important perspective on how clothing affects guys. An older woman could give good counsel, too, since they’ve seen seasons of fashion come and go.

If you’re in the process of developing a modest heart, why don’t you ask for some input from someone older and wiser who can help?

With Seeking Him, I'm Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
