A Kernel of Truth

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: You can probably think back to times when others unjustly criticized you. I can. But as I remember those hurtful words, I usually realize that there’s been a kernel of truth that I needed to hear.

In 2 Samuel 16, verses 11–12, we read about a time that King David was being verbally insulted by one of his enemies. David’s response was amazing. He said, "Leave him alone, and let him curse. . . . It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing today."

What’s David saying? "Leave matters in the Lord's hands. In fact, maybe God has sent this man into my life because He knows there's something I need to hear."

The next time you’re criticized, don’t miss what God may be wanting to say. Be patient enough to actually listen. And then say, “Lord, is there any truth in these words that I need to hear?”

With Seeking Him, I'm Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
